We want you to be able to use and get the most out of your professional heavy duty yoga mat for as long as possible. If you look after them like this they will stay looking ‘new’ for a very long time and should last 5-10 years! Maybe longer! Here are 3 tips:
1 Clean it right
We would recommend wiping them down with a natural cleaning spray (here is one of the recipes below but there are others):
250ml boiled water
60ml witch hazel
10 drops tea tree oil
10 drops lavender oil
We recommend you do this only after about every 5-10 uses.
You can give them deeper cleans as you need. For example, use a natural Castile liquid soap with warm water (Dr Bronners). You can also just use a washing up liquid. (NB! Please note these recipes are applicable for the professional heavy duty mats, and if have a different type of mat, they might not be suitable at all)
Use a non-abrasive sponge that is damp, but not soaking wet, and then dried with a cloth or left to dry in the air if you have space.
2 Let it dry
After any practice, especially a sweaty one, and after cleaning, allow your mat to dry before you roll it up. Heading straight from your class? No problem, roll it up, take it home and unroll to dry as soon as you get a chance.
3 Avoid keeping your mat out in the sun for long periods
